Basics About the Porsche Taycan

The Taycan is the first fully electric car from German manufacturers, Porsche. Now in its second year of production, US dealerships began taking orders of the 2021 models in late 2020, with deliveries expected early 2021. This four dour sedan can seat four people.

The Taycan comes in four trims. All Taycan’s feature Mobile Charger Plus, an innovative two-speed transmission, and an aluminum double-bubble roof.

Taycan

The base model is a rear-wheel-drive powered by a single electric motor that generates up to 402 horsepower. There is the option to upgrade to a larger battery, and by doing so, the Taycan can produce 469 horsepower. It can do 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds and reach a top track speed of 143 mph. It’s available in two standard colors, black or white, with another optional 15 colors available. It features 19-inch Taycan Aero Wheels and comes with a choice of three interior partial leather colorways. There are also eight-way power seats.

Taycan 4S

The Taycan 4S is powered by two Magnet Synchronous electric motors that drive all four wheels, a single-speed transmission at the front and a two-speed transmission at the back. It can generate 522 horsepower with Overboost Power with Launch Control on the standard equipped performance battery. It has a top track speed of 155 mph and does 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds with launch control. It has an estimated driving range of 227 miles. The 4S sits on triple-chamber air springs at each corner and features PASM adaptive dampers as standard.

Turbo

The Turbo features a 93.4kWh Performance Plus Battery. It can produce 670 horsepower with Overboost Power and Launch Control. It can go from 0-60 mph 3.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 161 mph. The Turbo has an estimated driving range of 212 miles. The Turbos get exterior metallic paint colors at no extra cost. They also get heated front and rear seats, leather interior, adaptive Matrix LED headlights, 14-way powered front seats with the 18-way adaptive sports seats available at a no-cost option, and a 14-speaker Bose stereo.

Turbo S

The Turbo S sits at the top of the Taycan range. It carries the same battery as the Turbo but produces 750 horsepower with Overboost Power and Launch Control. It does 0-60 mph in just 2.6 seconds and reaches top speeds of 161 mph. Its estimated driving range is 201 miles. The Turbo S features 21-inch alloy wheels, an engine sound generator, the Sports Chrono Package, and ceramic brakes.

New Features

Porsche welcomes the rear-wheel-drive base model to the 2021 lineup. A new lower capacity 71.0-kWh battery comes standard on the base model and 4S. Batteries get a better service life and now limit power loss during fast charging. There’s a new on-demand service that lets buyers download additional features after purchase. These features include Active Lane Keep Assist and Porsche InnoDrive. There are also seven new exterior colors, including Frozenberry Metallic, and five new interior trims.
