Routine oil changes are essential for the health of your motor because they prevent contaminants from building up, forming sludge, and causing undue wear and tear on your motor. Some people are tempted to perform this maintenance task themselves, but when you get a Porsche oil change at your local Porsche dealership, you get several other important services. Let’s look a little closer at a few of the extra services you can expect. Porsche_Oil_Change_Warwick_Rhode_Island_Porsche_of_Warwick

Air Filter Check

When you come in to have your motor oil replaced, you will also get an air filter check. Having your air filter checked regularly is important because when it is dirty or damaged, airflow is impeded. Unfortunately, a lot of air is required for the combustion process so your motor can convert gasoline or diesel into usable fuel.

When your air filter is extremely clogged, not enough air can get through it, the efficiency of the fuel combustion process decreases, and your fuel efficiency decreases. Also, debris, such as dust and dirt, can start to circulate throughout your engine. This can result in needing more frequent oil changes or extensive engine repair.

Brake Fluid Check

Your brake fluid level will also be checked when you come in for your oil change. When you depress your brake pedal to slow or stop your car, your brake pedal pressurizes your brake fluid. However, it is impossible to compress fluid. Therefore, pressure is transferred from your brake pedal through your brake fluid to your brakes.

It is so important to have your brake fluid level checked regularly because when there isn’t enough brake fluid in the reservoir, too much pressure is transferred from your brake pedal to your brakes. If we discover that your brake fluid level is too low, we will top up your brake fluid for you, identify the source of the brake fluid leak, and repair it.

Battery Check

You can also expect your battery to be tested once we finish changing your oil. It is important to have your battery tested regularly because it can be easy to miss the signs of a dying battery. Unfortunately, if your battery goes very bad, your car won’t even start.

It is also important to have your battery checked regularly because some people mistake the signs of a dying alternator as signs of a dying battery. If you have trouble starting your car, it is a lot easier to diagnose a failing alternator when you know there is nothing wrong with your battery.

When you come in for an oil change at your local Porsche dealer, we won’t just change your oil. You can expect a number of other important services, including an air filter check, brake fluid check, and battery check. If it has been a while since your oil was changed by a certified Porsche mechanic, schedule a service appointment here at Porsche Warwick on Bald Hill Rd as soon as possible.
